Broken Hearted Smiles

She blushed. She was so unused to these kind of situations, she didn't know what to do.
She had never even tried kissing another guy, but she figured one time had to be the first.
She was scared, extremely scared, and her cheeks was getting brighter red and warmer, as she leaned in carefully, stopping to see what he would do.
She wanted him to kiss her, but she knew from experience not to get her hopes too high.

Sinbad looked Charlotte in the eyes. She was really cute when she blushed.
He moved his head a little closer to hers. Only a few inches seperated them. Sinbad moved a finger infront of Charlotte's lips.
"Sorry, I said I have a girlfriend," he said with a little smile. He leaned his head back against the wall. "It just wouldn't be right."
- ... to do it to her again.

Her heart broke just the slightest.
Rejected. Again. Why could she never get used to it?
Was it so wrong to just want someone to hold?
She swallowed the lump in her throat and blinked back the tears in her eyes and smiled the best she could. It might not be convincing, but at least she smiled.
"It's ok, I understand," she said gently, though the voice had a slight hint of bitterness in it.

It was clear to see that it upset her.
"It's for your own good," he sighed. "You'd just end up getting hurt," he said and looked elsewhere.

At his words she couldn't help it but to let a few tears roll down her cheeks.
"As if being alone doesn't hurt more than anything you could throw at me," she said with a broken voice, but quickly recovered realizing how stupid she had just been.
"I'm sorry," she mumbled and looked down, wiping away her tears.

Sinbad raised from the floor and stretched his body.
"Sometimes it's better to be alone. Then you can't hurt the people you care about. Because there'll be noone to hurt," he said and laughed. "Noone to hurt but yourself. And if you hurt yourself, then it's probably because you deserved it," he mumbled to himself.

His words threw her back a little bit.
Did she deserve it? Of course she did, look at her. She was pathetic. And now even Sinbad agreed she had brought this on her own.
She kept looking down, wiping away more tears before calming down.
She didn't want to be this weak, pathetic creature anymore. She didn't want to deserve it.

Sinbad looked around the room. Why was he again in a room with no furnitures?
He walked over to the opposite wall and sat down. He placed his head between his legs and looked at the ground.
Great, now he had hurt an innocent girl he just met. Why could he never do anything right?

She looked up as he walked away from her.
Why was he walking away from her?
"Did I... do anything wrong...?" she asked puzzled and confused.
"Look, if this is about the kiss, I didn't... I didn't mean to..." she couldn't finish her own sentence. She didn't mean to what? She didn't know.

"You didn't do anything wrong," he said without moving from his position.
"It's just...."
- ... I need to prevent myself from doing something wrong.
"... nevermind," he mumbled.

"Please don't sit so far away... you're making me feel lonely," she mumbled and crawled over to sit next to Sinbad.

- Didn't I just tell you that sometimes it was better to be alone? he thought to himself.
But he didn't say it out loud. To be honest he never really believed those words. He didn't feel alright when he was alone. He just felt cold and empty.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to," he said and lifted his head slightly when she sat next to him.

"I don't believe you," she said calmly and looked at him, a spark in her eyes while she smiled.
"Some times you can't make it on your own. That's when it's good to know you can always rely on someone."
She looked to the ceiling, as if she was looking for something, before looking back at him.
"Some times... you need someone to help you through things or to just... not feel so lonely."
The spark in her eyes were still there when she sat herself a tad bit closer to Sinbad.
"That's why I am so happy you're here now. So I don't have to be alone anymore."

Sinbad turned his head and looked directly at her as she talked. She really seemed to believe in what she said.
When she had finished, he couldn't help but laugh a little by her cuteness. "You sure talk a lot, you know that," he said with a smile.

She looked at him without saying anything for a while before asking:
"Is that a bad thing..?"
Her confused expression was somewhat like a puppy who couldn't understand what it's owner wanted it to do.

He couldn't help but laugh slightly again when he saw her confused expression.
"No, I think it's cute."

"As long as I don't give you a headache," she laughed.
"So... Sinbad... what do you do for fun?"
She couldn't see what would possibly be fun in an empty, cold room.

"Well, there's really not that much to do for fun in such a place...."
-.... except for things I'm not planning on telling you about.
"Talk, sleep, eat... I don't know," he sighed. He'd never survive if he didn't find something better to do.

"How about a game?" she said playfully.
"To get to know eachother? First, you can say something you like, and then me, and then you again."
She smiled at him. It was a childish game, but she loved being childish.

"A game? Sure, why not."
He listened as she explained the rules.
"So what kind of things? Like what sort of food we like and such, or...?"

"Anything," she said and smiled encouragingly waiting for him to start the game.

"Hmmm okay," he said and thought about something to say.
"Fishing," he said after thinking for a while.

She frowned a bit. She'd never liked fishing.
"Puppies," she said and grinned childishly and nodded to him to show it was his turn again.

Puppies. Even worse than grown up dogs.
But he didn't say anything about it. If she liked them ,then that was her choice.
"Ships."

She couldn't help but laugh. They really had absolutely nothing in common did they?
"Swimming," she said and smiled.

Sinbad smiled a little. At least that was something he agreed on.
"The sea."

She couldn't help but smile. What was he? A sailor or something?
"Rain," she said and smiled. She knew it was weird, but she had always loved feeling raindrops on her bare skin. Dancing in the rain when no one was watching was one of her favorite things to do, even though she had to sneak out to do it, since her father would never allow her to do so.

Sinbad looked a little surprised at first.
"Interesting."
Then he laid down on the floor, staring a the ceiling.
"Adventures."

She looked at him and smiled. This was the first time she had felt truly happy in ages.
"You," she said softly. She hadn't meant to say it, it just slipped out.
"Ehhmm... chocolate," she said quickly hoping he hadn't noticed her first statement.

Sinbad remained silent for a little while. It probably seemed like he was thinking about what to say. But in reality he considered whether or not he should say anything about her mentioning him as a thing she liked.
He sighed lightly. "Pears."

She sighed, happy that he hadn't noticed, or at least thinking he hadn't noticed.
She actually liked pears, so at least they had something in common now. She smiled.
"Teddybears," she giggled.

He looked at her without moving his head. She was cute when she giggled. He smiled. Then he looked at the ceiling again.
"The color red."

"Black roses," she said and smiled. It was weird, but she had always liked them. They were so beautiful, and they always seemed to move her when she looked at one.

"Black roses? I wouldn't have imagined that," he said amused.
"I guess I'm more old fashioned when it comes to roses. Red roses."

"Romantic, aren't you?" she asked and giggled.
"Playgrounds."
She had always liked to play around and get dirty and just be free like every other kid. Her dad would never allow it, but the few times she was alone, and were able to do what she wanted... she would always just be herself, even though no one else saw it.

"Tre-...." He paused.
"Rabbits."

"What were you gonna say?" she said and turned to him confused, with her same old puppy-look. "Tre-what?"

He looked at her for a little while.
"I just forgot what rabbits were called for a moment," he said teasingly. "So I had to start over when I suddenly remembered."

She laughed out loud and snuggled in closer to him, putting her head on his shoulder before looking up at him again and poking his shoulder.
"You're such a bad liar, tell me!" she giggled impatiently.

He laughed as he ran his fingers through her hair.
"I said rabbits. I believe it's your turn now."

She pressed her lips together, making her lips look like one big thin line before cracking up and starting to giggle once he pulled his fingers through her hair.
She laid her head back on his shoulder and started thinking.
"Fine," she laughed.
"Hmm... climbing trees."

He frowned slightly. That was a thing he definitely didn't like. Not anymore at least.
He shoke his head and stared up at the ceiling again.
"Stars... Or more precisely looking at stars."

She didn't even notice his frown, but when he talked about stars he got her attention.
"You're cute," she giggled. Red roses and star gazing? How many guys were like that?
"Hamburgers," she said and sighed. She loved them, but to keep her body nice and thin, her father had banned her from eating junkfood.

He smiled at her comment. She was so funny. She was the cute one.
"Oh yeah, hamburgers are great. At least a lot better than the bread we get served here," he said jokingly.
"Hmmm, what now... It's hard to come up with so many things, and still remember what you've already said."
He closed his eyes for a moment and thought about it.
"Hnnng... Fencing," he said as he opened his eyes again.

"Running," she said softly. She liked it. It was her way of escaping everything and just... be.

Sinbad lifted his back slightly from the floor and leaned his head back. He looked across the empty room.
"Furnitures," he laughed.

"Yeah... you quite miss them when they're gone don't you?" she couldn't help but laugh as well.
"But being with you makes it hard to miss anything really," she giggled and kissed his cheek.

"Oh really?" he said sarcastic.
He turned his head and faced her.
"I find that kinda hard to believe."

"Oh? And why is that?" she asked.
"A cute guy like you should have no problems making me forget everything else," she giggled.

Sinbad turned to his side so his front was facing her. He rested his head on his arm.
"And how will you suggest I do that?" he joked.
