Odette kissed him back, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him closer to her. She stayed that way for as long as she could before pulling away and resting her head against his shoulder. She stood like that in silence for a few minutes as she tried to catch her breath.
The more she thought about what she was going to say to him next, the more upset she became since part of her knew why he was really doing this, so she didn't even try to stop the tears that started to fall down her cheeks.

'I don't want to do this .. if it doesn't mean anything ..' she finally whispered in his ear, 'I can't .. not if it's only a distraction from ..' she hesitantly bit her lip, hoping that the mention of her name wouldn't make him too upset, '.. from thinking about Ariel ..'

She stepped back and hugged herself, hanging her head slightly so her hair hid her face and the tears that wouldn't stop falling, 'I'm sorry ..'

Sinbad enjoyed the kiss until she pulled away. He wasn't sure why she suddenly did that, and for a while he stood rather confused without moving.
When she started talking Sinbad listened carefully. She didn't want to? Why did she suddenly decide that she didn't want to? He soon after got his answer as she continued.
Did she really think that this was just a distraction so he didn't have to think about Ariel? As he repeated it inside his head he began to think that that might actually have been the reason. Sure, being with Odette like that made him forget everything else for a while. I made him feel good. But was that really the only reason he had wanted it? He wasn't really sure.
Sinbad looked at her as she stepped away. "Odette..." he started in a low voice, without knowing how to continue that sentence. Unable to continue he just stood there, watching her cry.

When he didn't say anything else, she knew she was right and that only made her feel worse.

'Maybe .. maybe you should just leave me alone ..' she said quietly between sobs before turning her back to him.

"I..." he started again, desperately trying to turn his thoughts into words. But he wasn't even sure what he was thinking. It all came so sudden.
"Y-yeah... S-sorry," he said eventually in a broken voice before he walked out of the shower. He didn't even bother grabbing his pants as they were still soaking wet. Instead he went directly for the door.
He walked over to the blanket he had seen in the room earlier and curled up in it. Did she really just reject him? It felt so surreal. Had he done something wrong?

Only when he'd walked out of the shower did she look up, watching him as he left the room. She stared at the door for a while longer before leaning against the wall and sliding down to the shower floor.

Who am I kidding? she thought as she hugged her knees to her chest, I'll never be anything more than a distraction .. to be used until someone better comes along .. because it doesn't matter what happens to me in the end ..

After what seemed like hours Odette had finally stopped crying. She stood up and lifted her head, letting the warm water fall across her tear stained face.
Deciding she couldn't spend all of her time hiding from him, she turned the water off and stepped out of the shower. She slowly walked towards her clothes and got dressed again, not caring if she was still wet or not.

Odette stood in the doorway and watched Sinbad for a moment before walking to the opposite end of the room and sitting down.
As her skin was still wet she started shivering, rubbing her arms to keep warm as she stared down at the floor.

When Sinbad heard the bathroom door open, he turned around and faced it.
He looked at Odette as she walked to the opposite end of the room and sat down. He wanted to say something to her, but he didn't know where to start.
He noticed that she started rubbing her arms and figured she was cold. He sat up with the blanket around him, looking at the floor.
"Do you want to borrow the blanket?" he asked eventually.

When he spoke she looked up at him but didn't say a word.
She shook her head slowly, shivering again before looking away from him.

Sinbad stared at her for a little while. He could see her shiver.
He stood up and walked to the bathroom. He felt his pants. They were almost dry by now. He put the pants on before he walked out of the bathroom again with the blanket in his hands.
He walked towards Odette and threw the blanket so it landed next to her.
"I don't need it anyway," he said in a low voice before he turned around and walked back to the place he had been before. "I don't want you to catch a cold or something."

She stared at the blanket and laughed lightly.

'You don't have to pretend to be nice to me you know ..' she said as she gripped the blanket with one hand.

Sinbad sat down with his back against the wall. He looked at Odette as she took the blanket.
"I'm not pretending anything," he said and placed his head on his knees and looked elsewhere.

'You don't have to lie to me either ..' she said as she lay on her side, facing away from him.

She wasn't exactly tired but she thought that maybe when she woke up again she'd feel better about everything .. or at least more willing to talk about what had happened in the bathroom ..

She pulled the blanket over herself and continued to stare blankly at the wall before eventually falling asleep.

Sinbad sat in the same position without moving for a long while. He didn't reply to what Odette said, because he had no idea what to say. He wasn't lying, but it seemed like she would believe him. So what was the point in even trying?

At some point he must have falling asleep. When he woke up again, he was laying on the side, facing the wall. For a long time he did nothing but stare at the wall, just thinking about everything that had happened.

Odette stirred, 'Sinbad ..' she mumbled in her sleep.

What had happened still bothered her even as she slept and she couldn't help letting his name slip out of her mouth as she lay there.

Sinbad turned around as he heard his name being mentioned.
He looked over at Odette. She was talking in her sleeps?
Sinbad crawled a little closer, just to get a better look. He didn't dare go all the way, afraid of how she'd react when she woke up.
Instead he stopped and sat up against the wall again. He knew he had to talk to her sooner or later, but for now he'd just let her sleep.

After a few minutes she woke up, moving the blanket away from her a little before sitting up.
She pushed a few strands of hair behind her ear as she looked around the room.

When she saw him sitting close by, she smiled weakly, 'hi ..' she said quietly before turning away again.

Sinbad had looked at her for a little while. He watched closely as she woke up. He was relieved when he sao the little smile on her face. At least she wasn't sad anymore or mad.
"Hi... How did you sleep?" he asked, not wanting to start anything to serious when she wasn't fully awake. Or maybe it was because he feared what it would be like to talk about it and he wanted to postpone it as long as possible.

She thought about it for a little while before finally shaking her head.

'Not really .. I couldn't stop thinking about what happened .. before ..' she said quietly. She was in no rush to start talking about it properly so she just turned and leant her head back against the wall before asking him back, 'what about you?'

"I didn't really realize I had fallen asleep before I woke up again," he answered. He had been looking at her the whole time he had been sitting there, but now he turned his head away. For a while he didn't say anything.
"Why did you stop? ... Did I do something wrong?" he asked eventually, not really knowing if he wanted to hear the answer.

'I just .. I don't know,' she said slowly as she tried to think of a way to tell him how she felt without breaking down like she had before.

'I know if I hadn't stopped it then it wouldn't have meant anything just like the first time .. and I don't want it to be like that anymore ..'
After seeing the people closest to her get hurt because of her selfishness finally made her start to understand that she had to change before she ended up truly alone again.
'.. and I know it can never mean anything with you .. after all, I know what you're like,' she said and turned to look at him, 'remember the first time we were together, it was obvious that I was just another girl to pass the time with, like all the other ones you've slept with in here .. but I didn't mind that then .. I didn't even care that you had a girlfriend ..'

She stopped and sighed before putting on a fake smile, 'so .. how many has there been since then? Or has there been so many that you can't even remember?' she laughed lightly as she tried to pretend that it didn't bother her no matter what he said next.

He knew it. He didn't want to hear the answer. But he had asked for it. And he knew he had to listen. No matter how much it hurt to face the truth.
Sinbad stared straight forward into nothing with an empty expression as he listened to what she had to say.
When he heard her laugh, he turned his head and looked at her with the same empty expression. Why was she laughing like that? He didn't even want to answer her question. Instead he looked away as he turned his back to her.
"Then I guess it was the right choice to stop," he said in a low voice. "... Because apparently I'm not able to care about anyone at all," he added in a sarcastic tone.

She felt bad for telling him how she felt as soon as she heard him speak. She crawled closer and moved in front of him so he had to look at her again.

'That's not what I meant ..' she said quietly as she tried not to look as upset as she felt, 'I just know that I'm not going to be the last one to be with you like that .. and you can't tell me that's not true .. can you?'

Sinbad looked up at her while he thought about what to say. Of course he couldn't tell her that it wasn't true. But it was not like he wasn't allowed to sleep with anyone else. So why did he feel so guilty thinking about that he probably would?
"Well... no," he said and looked down. "But... I probably won't be the last one for you either... I mean you also slept with that guy Pocahontas liked. So how is that any different from me?" he asked and looked up at her face again.

'Maybe I don't want to be with anyone else,' she said quietly before looking away when he mentioned what happened with Pocahontas, 'that is different .. I couldn't say no to him ..'

"You couldn't say no to him? What kind of excuse is th-..." He stopped suddenly.
"You weren't... uhm... raped again... were you?" he asked carefully, not wanting to mention rape after he had seen how hurt she had been after she had been at the hospital. And after he had remembered he had put Pocahontas through the same thing. But he had to know for sure.

As soon as he mentioned being raped, she shook her head quickly to try and distract herself from thinking about it again.

'It wasn't that .. but would it really matter to you if that did happen,' she said eventually as she kept her gaze away from his.

Sinbad sighed relieved when she told him she hadn't been raped again.

"Of course it would matter to me," he said quickly. "I know it's somehow really hard for you to believe," he continued a bit slower. "... but I really do care about you. I don't want you to get hurt in any way."

'It's not that I don't want to believe you, it's just that I can't .. because then ..' she started as she blinked back the tears that threatened to fall again, '.. then I really will end up getting hurt because sooner or later you'll decide that you don't care and you never really did .. just like everyone else.'

Sinbad looked at her for a while without saying anything. She seemed so sad as she sat there in front of him. It was evident she was trying to hold back her tears.
Sinbad moved a little closer and placed his hand on her cheek, gently forcing her to look at him.
"I won't decide I don't care, because I really do... If I didn't then I wouldn't continue to tell you."

She leant her hand against his and smiled a little, but the look of doubt was obvious on her face as she still didn't think she could truly believe him.

'I bet you say this kind of thing to all the girls you meet ..' she said sadly as she squeezed his hand and pulled away from him, 'I should know by now that I'm nothing special ..'

"But you are speciel," Sinbad sighed when she pulled away. He had no idea how he could convince her.
Sinbad moved up against the wall and rested his head against it.
"... It's just a shame you can't see it," he said in a low voice and turned his head to look at her again.

She looked at him, thinking about it for a moment before carefully leaning in closer to him.

'Then show me .. if you really mean it ..' she said, her voice barely a whisper as if she was too afraid to say what she did next, 'show me that I'm not wasting my time feeling this way about you ..'

Sinbad moved a hand to the back of his head, nervously running his fingers through his hair.
"H-how exactly do you want me to show you?"

'Any way you want to,' she said as she leant her body against his, reaching up to gently kiss him on the cheek, 'I just need to know that it .. I don't mean nothing to you ..'

"Uhm... well," he started as he took her hand in his. He looked at them for a little while before he continued.
"Okay, uhm... can I be completely honest with you about something?"

She looked up at him and hesitated before answering him, '.. sure,' she said simply as she thought that this couldn't be a good thing.

"The thing is..." he started as he tried his best to think of the best way to say it. He felt she deserved to know the truth. It was better than pretending everything was just alright, wasn't it?
"I'm telling you this because I really do care about you... and I think you should know..." he said and looked up at her shortly before he looked down at their hands again.
"Everything that's happened lately... with Ariel and such... it's still quite uhm... I mean, it's not like I can just forget about it like that... So, uhm... if this is really turning into something more... do you think..."
He paused for a little while. Then he looked up at her again.
"Do you think maybe we could take it a bit slow in the beginnig?"

She watched him as he spoke, mentally sighing in relief as what he said wasn't half as bad as what she had prepared herself for.
When he looked at her again she smiled reassuringly at him.

'I understand,' she said quietly as she pulled him into a hug, 'if that's what you want to do .. then we can do that .. I only want you to be sure that this is even what you want ..'

Sinbad smiled with relief when she told him she understood. When she pulled him in to a hug, he put his arms around her and hugged her back.
"Thank you," he said quietly.
"I-I've really enjoyed spending time with you so far the times we've been in a room together. So I figured it wouldn't be so bad... if it's something you want as well."

'Of course .. you know I'll be right here for you if there's anything you need, right?' she said and hugged him tighter before finally pulling away.

She couldn't help but laugh a little at his words, 'I'm sure a few of those times were more enjoyable than the rest,' she said, smiling softly at him as she nodded, 'I think it is ..'

Sinbad couldn't help but smile when she spoke. It was nice to know that he had her when he needed her. That she'd be there for him. He nodded slightly before she pulled away.

"I'm really glad I was roomed with you again," he said softly after being silent for a little while. "Before this, well... This is just really nice," he said and smiled at her.

She smiled up at him before leaning back and resting her head against his shoulder.

'What did happen ..' she started carefully, '.. before this?'

"Well I was alone for some time. And before that I was with Pocahontas." He paused for a while, wondering if it would be a bad idea to continue.
"You and Pocahontas are.. uhm, good friends?" he asked eventually.

'I thought we were .. after everything we've done together ..' she said sadly and sighed, 'I never really got a chance to put it right after what I did to her .. maybe I've ruined our friendship for good .. I don't know ..'

She sat in silence for a moment before asking, 'Why? What happened between you two?'

"Well, you see..." he started. He decided not to mention anything about the past just yet. There was plenty to tell her in what had happened in the room.
"We got a pretty rough start, after what had happened with... uhm, Ariel and all that... And then later on the Villain was in the room. He was with Pocahontas, I tried to attack him and..."
He stopped suddenly.
"That guy you slept with... that was him... wasn't it?" he said disappointed as he looked up at her.

He tried to attack him?
So many questions ran through her mind but she forgot them all as soon as he looked at her that way.

She turned away and looked at the floor, after a moment she nodded. She started to feel ashamed of herself for what she did .. even more so than when Pocahontas found out ..

Sinbad continued to look at her for a while. Her silence said it all.
"W-why?" he managed to say eventually.

Because part of me wanted to .. she thought, but didn't feel like she could say that.

'What does it matter why I did it ..?' she said quietly as she continued to stare at the floor.
