Not Worth It

After returning Esmeralda to her room, he walked out the backdoor. He went around to the other side, seeing Cinderella crying against the front door. It stung his heart.
He waited there for a while, calming himself down. No. He would not do this to himself. He would not fall in love with Cinderella. She wasn't worth it. She was only human. Just a human. Just like the rest of them.

After watching her for a while, hearing her pleas, he approached her. When he was about three meters away from her he stepped on a twig, which made a loud noise, making her turn quickly to face him.

She jumped and looked up at the sound. Her wide, red from crying, eyes looked up to see the man she had been crying for.

"John..." She whispered his name, before stumbling to her feet and running into his chest. Her good hand grasped to his shirt. "Please, please! She's hurt! You have to help her! She-she's coughing up blood, a-and... You have to help her, please!" She said, new tears starting to form that she almost wanted to put her face in his chest, but she didn't. Her blue eyes pleading with his.

His heart was aching, but his eyes were cold. He put his hand on the back of her head, as if to comfort her.
"Already been taken care of," he said in a flat voice.

She narrowed her eyes slightly at his voice. "...What did you do?" She asked, slowly.

He smiled a little at her untrusting expression.
"She's safe. Don't worry."

"She's needs medical attention, John." She stated. "She's having a baby; are you going to condemn the baby for his parents' actions?" She asked, not believing he got Esmeralda the attention she needed.

She discreetly put her arm with the bad hand around her stomach, almost protecting it.

"Please don't let the baby die..." She whispered, her eyes pleading with his again.

"Didn't I just tell you not to worry?" he said coldly. He was no longer amused by her distrust, but rather aggrivated.

"That doesn't reassure me." She said, coldly back, taking a step away from him. "Show me she's okay, and I'll believe you and not worry." She said, holding her ground.

It was probably a bad idea and she knew that, but not actually knowing her friend was okay would just stress her out more then she or the baby could take...

"It's not really my problem if you don't believe me now is it?" he said with a colder voice, his eyes narrowing.
When she stepped away from him he let her go without struggling.

She gave an empty laugh, before putting her good hand on her forehead. "Don't know why you're mad at me, but I don't need this right now." She said, trying to control herself from crying again.

It was getting harder for her to talk without crying. She couldn't hold her fake smile. "Forgive me for worrying about a friend." She said, turning her back to him and walking over to the closest tree. She put her good hand on the tree, half way leaning against it.

"That's nice, but I really can't be bothered with what you "need"," he said and rolled his eyes.
"I'm just here to take you back to your room."

Her hand on the tree turned into a fist and she squeezed it hard for a moment, before letting her hand uncurl and relax. She stood up straight. "Fine." She said, before turning to him, with no expression.

"Take me back to my room, please. There is nothing I would like more at this point." She said, walking over to him.

He's going to knock me out this time for sure...

Well, I welcome it.

He picked her up like he always used to. The only exception was that his touch was no longer soft, but hard and cold, as if he did not really want to touch her.

Why didn't he just knock her out? Was her thought, after he picked her up. She put her good arm around his shoulder, while her injured hand laid in her lap.

Id you don't want to touch me, why don't you just leave me here to die, then? She thought, bitterly. He left her out there for so long anyways, why not leave her out there forever...

Seeing as she didn't resist he picked her up and carried her to room 2 where Odette was sleeping. He put her down calmly before stepping back, closing the door, locking it and walking away with no emotions on his face.
