The Awkward "Morning After"

After swallowing she looked back at him, still deep in thought.
He always seemed like he wanted nothing else than to play with her feelings, or get her to sleep with him.
Still, some times he seemed so cute and sweet. Or was that just all an act to make her think there was more to him?
She looked down on the floor, not wanting to do the same mistake again and getting caught staring at him.

Sinbad took another piece of chocolate and held it between two fingers while he studied it for a while. He wondered what Cinderella was doing now, if she was still alright. It felt so weird never knowing anything about anyone except for the one you were roomed with.
Eventually he put it in his mouth and slowly chewed it.

The silence between them was awkward, but was ever anything between them not awkward?
She didn't know what to say, but after just sitting there for a while quiet she had to say something.
"Have you ever been in love?" she asked, shaking a little bit nervously, as always when she was with Sinbad.
She had been wondering this for a while. She didn't see him as the type to fall in love, but maybe there was a softer side to even Sinbad.

Sinbad looked at her, surprised by her question. He wasn't quite sure what to tell her. Not really because he didn't want to tell her, mostly because he wasn't sure what his answer would be.
"I guess that depends on how you define it, doesn't it?" he said, trying to avoid answering the question right away. At least this way he would have some more time to think about it.

"It's a simple question," she laughed. Did he really expect her to explain and define love to him?
If he had ever truely been in love, he would have known, and wouldn't need to ask such stupid questions.
She guessed it just wasn't in his heart to feel true love for someone else...

"I know that. It's just..."
Sinbad was silent for a little while.
"Don't you want another piece," he said and nodded towards the box with chocolate.

His reaction confused her. Not like she had asked him anything serious. Maybe he was just trying to avoid saying no, as not to sound like a heartless bastard. It didn't matter, she already thought as much about him.
"No thank you," she laughed. Two pieces was more than enough, she wasn't going to steal any more from him.
